WebSphere Topological Structure

Dalil represents WebSphere topology internally with a structured object representing an algebraic formulation of WebSphere layered topology. Dalil utilizes algebraic formulations in topological data structures to draw correspondent relation between cells, nodes and servers in a loosely coupled WebSphere cloud topology.

Structured Topological Definition

The structured topological definition of the machine is shown below. Note that Dalil uses TAGN, Topological Algebraic Group Notation, to refer to the topological nominations for a WebSphere machine in a cloud computing data center.

WebSphere Transport Ports

Dalil reports the list of internet socket port numbers used by WebSphere's tranport layer. These transport ports are also called enpoint ports, or simply network ports.

WebSphere Endpoint Ports

There are three servers defined in this machine configuration. Each server and its corresponding endpoints are listed in the following table. You can also see the topological definition for the machine by following this link.

Analytic on WebSphere Configuration Objects per WebSphere XML File

Dalil analytical analyses are derived from the product parser and processor both of which are specially written to process WebSphere objects. Dalil's regex processing, and its topological restructuring of WebSphere objects, make it an unique analytical reporter for WebSphere configuration analyses. Dalil uses solely wsadmin to gather WebSphere configuration data.

XML Objects Count

The following table shows the XML topological content of WebSphere XML configurations files. The first column shows the XML file name and in what topological layer it is being used: Cell, Node, or Server. The second and third columns show the XMI name space and the schema version respectively. The last column shows the topological objects count defined in the XML file.

WebSphere Service Integration Bus

WebSphere defines a set of object pointers to interconnect application servers in a clustered WebSphere cloud. These pointers form a set of buses. A set of interconnected messaging engines defined within a WebSphere cloud uses the buses to provide a name space for the messaging topic and destination handlers.

Service Integration Buses

For internal JMS definition, the service integration buses (SIBs) are reported in neatly formatted reports. The user can define the format of these reports by editing the formatting stubs of Dalil.

WebSphere Variables Substitution

WebSphere maintains a set of variables for each of its topology layer. These variables are called variables substitution and can be defined at any of WebSphere topological layer: cell, node, or server layer

WebSphere Variables

The following is a report of the WebSphere variables defined for the machine MEREDITH-X:MA-9. Such variables may be defined at the cell level, node level, or the server level. You can also browse through WebSphere variable subtitution by browsing the cloud gray pages of MEREDITH-X:MA-9.
